  • Review partners and stakeholder’s engagement and community involvement strategy.
  • Increase stakeholders’ involvement in project design, monitoring and evaluation and dissemination of lessons learnt.
  • Actively participate and collaborate in networks and platforms at national and regional levels.
  • Increase the number of networks and coordination platforms that the organization participates in or have a membership.
  • Increase national visibility and presence through networks, platforms and partnerships.
  • Strengthen regional offices to address the physical barrier between the senior and field staff.
  • Assess and initiate new partnerships to scale and sustain.
  • Participate in multi-stakeholder forums and coordination mechanisms pertinent to HDAMA’s vision and mission.

Strategic Objective 2:
Strengthen systems for HR, finance and procurement management

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Review the organization’s HR system, staff competency framework and learning and development, organizational structure and reporting lines, job description, roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop and implement staff personal and professional development strategy.
  • Create and introduce career growth opportunities within the organization based on performance and competence.
  • Ensure a conducive work environment, reward, career development, recognition and motivation system.

Strategic Objective 3:
Strengthen systems resource mobilization and raise organizational income from diversified sources

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Review fundraising strategy interlinking existing and new ideas to maximize access to diverse opportunities.
  • Promote fund raising and other resource mobilization practice within HDAMA.
  • Improve volunteers’ mobilization and management practice.
  • Improve the status and capacity of the health center to self-sustain and generate income for the organization.
  • Develop staff capacity in resource mobilization and fundraising.
  • Enhance partnership, networking and collaboration.
  • Design communication and dissemination strategy and materials to reach potential supporters for HDAMA.
  • Develop and implement business development and resource capturing plan for HDAMA to access, respond and tack opportunities nationally and internationally.

Strategic Objective 4:
Strengthen systems for internal and external capacity development

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Develop capacity development strategy for HDAMA.
  • Design systems for capacity development and quality assurance.
  • Enhance the capacity of staff to effectively design, implement and evaluate capacity development interventions in respective thematic areas and roles with in the organization.
  • Create pool of resource persons at regional, zonal and woreda level for continuous capacity development and use in facilitating trainings and other capacity development interventions implemented by HDAMA.
  • Ensure existence and application of diverse staff development opportunities through in-house technical assistance, mentoring, coaching etc.

Strategic Objective 5:
Develop and enhance the engagement of board, leadership, staff, volunteers and members

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Design and implement board and leadership development strategy.
  • Develop and implement board, volunteers and members’ engagement strategy.
  • Increase the diversity in terms of professional background and gender.
  • Develop and implement Board participation guideline, work and succession plan.
  • Use new approaches in engaging the Board –such as virtual engagement, delegation of tasks and authority and align our needs with the realities around them.

Enhance organizational systems and practices in monitoring, evaluation, research and knowledge management

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Review and strengthen organizational monitoring and evaluation systems, tools and procedures.
  • Conduct internal and external evaluation for projects and programs depending on resources and donors’/partners requirements.
  • Ensure evidence based programming within HDAMA.
  • Design strategies and strengthen systems to continuously capture, develop, document and share knowledge.
  • Assess and engage in community of practices and knowledge sharing platforms relevant to the thematic issues that HDAMA is dealing with.

Strategic Objective 1:
Promote Malaria Prevention, Treatment and Elimination Interventions to Eradicate

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Reduce the impact of malaria through improving knowledge, attitude and practice and ensuring existence of treatment .
  • Eliminate malaria in low transmission areas.
  • Improve the knowledge, attitude and practice of the community to towards malaria prevention and control.
  • Support the primary healthcare system to improve their capacity in malaria prevention, treatment and control.
  • Strengthen community structures.
  • Promote and scale us the use of Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) as the first line treatment.
  • Improve access and expand the use of Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT).
  • Improve the vector control and prevention through the wide distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) supplemented by targeted Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).
  • Align engagements and strengthen reporting of routine data and information as provision of comprehensive account of strategic information for malaria M&E nationally.

Strategic Objective 1:
Promote targeted HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and treatment to minimize its spread and impact

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Promote information for HIV/AIDS Prevention targeting those who are at risk of HIV infection.
  • Promote HIV voluntary counseling and testing.
  • Promote care and treatment services for HIV/AIDS patients in need, including ART services and positive living skills for HIV positive people.
  • Support orphans and vulnerable children affected by AIDS through nutrition, education, psychosocial and health interventions.
  • Design/review community mobilization and training modules for HIV/AIDS.
  • Recruit, train and deploy volunteers for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS and orphans.
  • Mobilize community to conduct awareness raising sessions on HIV/AIDS prevention (both sexual mother-to-child transmission) and treatment.
  • Create linkages and connect people with other organizations service providers.
  • Enable trained volunteers cascade their knowledge and commitment to others in order to engage more volunteers that can provide care and support services to PLHIVs.
  • Nutritional support for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Strategic Objective 1:
Increase adolescent sexual and reproductive health and youth friendly services

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Increase awareness and knowledge on SRH for youth through comprehensive SRH education.
  • Promote standardized comprehensive age appropriate and gender sensitive SRH training program for out of school adolescents and young adults developed.
  • Design evidence-based adolescents SRH programs for high risk out-of-school adolescents and young adults to improve their life skills and their access to income.
  • Promote family planning education and information dissemination, increase contraception use and reduce unintended pregnancy for adolescent youth.
  • Integrate adolescents SRH education into existing and newly developed vocational trainings for out of school adolescents and young adults.
  • Promote the application of gender sensitive, life skills based adolescents SRH education integrated in the primary and secondary school curricula and taught.
  • Produce and disseminate IEC/BCC Materials to the community health workers.
  • Assess and address critical drivers for unintended pregnancy and transition of STI for adolescents (especially girls) and design and implement interventions to address the problem.
  • Promote youth friendly services within public service providers and ensure youth friendliness in the healthcare services that HDAMA is providing.

Strategic Objective 2:
Improve maternal and child health through promoting information, communication and healthcare services

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Enhance antenatal and postnatal care, institutional delivery, child immunization and maternal and child nutrition practices (address mal-nutrition).
  • Reduce maternal and infant mortality and morbidity through tackling demand and supply side barriers maternal and child health service utilization.
  • Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV.

Strategic Objective 3:
Reduce malnutrition and nutrients deficiency among children and mothers

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Implement interventions that reduce poverty, inadequate food consumption, improper maternal infant and child feeding and care practices, inequity and traditional practices – to prevent malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies.
  • Integrate nutrition education and communication with other interventions targeting vulnerable group to control of micronutrient deficiencies among vulnerable groups.
  • Support fortification of essential food items with appropriate nutrients.
  • Promote low cost nutritious foods prepared from indigenous and locally available raw materials.
  • Improve consumption of diverse and nutrient-dense foods for the population with particular emphasis for children under 2 and women to contribute to the prevention of malnutrition and adults to improve productivity.
  • Increase production of a range of diverse nutrient-dense foods: fruit vegetables, animal products, legumes, cereals.
  • Improve post-harvest handling, preservation and processing to improve availability of good nutritional quality and safe foods to rural communities.

Strategic Objective 4:
Improve environmental health, safety, hygiene and sanitation practices in rural and urban communities

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Improve access to safe, sufficient and reliable drinking water.
  • Promote behavioral change communication for improved hygiene and sanitation practices in schools, other similar institutions and within the community (to practicing safe disposal of feces through the construction and consistent use of improved latrines by all family members, handwashing with soap (or substitute) and water at critical times, and safe transport, treatment, storage and handling of household drinking water).
  • Improve access to sanitation facilities within communities to promote Open Defecation Free (ODF) status
  • Strengthen WASH committees and structures at different level.
  • Promote pollution control and climate change mitigation.
  • Promote agricultural and environmental protection practices that conserve soil and water.
  • Promote climate change impact mitigation practices to reduce the critical effect on women and children.

Strategic Objective 1:
Improve employment and income generating opportunities for the poor and socio-economically vulnerable groups

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Provide skills trainings for economic empowerment, create jobs and employment opportunities for vulnerable youth.
  • Access to finance, trainings, market and linkages for micro and small enterprise development.
  • Collaborate with TVET agencies in providing formal and non-formal skills training for the neediest youth to create employment and or business opportunities.
  • Promote opportunities for job creation, entrepreneurship and linkages with Micro and Small Enterprises.

Strategic Objective 2:
Design and implement pre and post disaster interventions to reduce harms in highly exposed and vulnerable communities

Intervention areas under this strategic objective:

  • Access and respond to address factors putting communities at risk of natural disasters.
  • Design and implement disaster prevention and preparedness, relief and rehabilitation interventions in pre and post disaster and emergency situations -paying particular emphasis to malaria and other diseases.
  • Promote Sanitation and hygiene intervention during emergencies.
