 The Health Development and Anti Malaria Association (HDAMA),   in partnership with UNFPA, are implementing Awareness Raising, Improving Access and Utilization (ARIAU) of SRH Services Project in five towns of Amhara Regional State: namely Bahir Dar, Debre Markos, Debre Work, Yeduha and Yejubie. The project generally aimed at reducing the exposure to and the impact of reproductive health problems and HIV/AIDS in target areas.

 

 The project targets grade 7 and 8 of private and government school students of in Bahir Dar, Debre Markos, Yejubie, Yeduha and Debre Work. Also Commercial sex workers at Debre Work, Yeduha and Yejube towns are benefited from the project. It also focuses on  hostel based girls care and support at Debre Markos town and strengthening a youth center in the health center of HDAMA in Bahir Dar city. Apart from this, the project comprises of capacity building of institutions with materials and trainings. 

 

As per the project implementation plan, we have executed planned activities within the reporting period from April 1, 2016 to June 30, 2016.  Among the activities performed in the reporting period:   conducting peer education session with students , organizing literature competition , organizing graduation ceremony for peer leaders, conduct small group peer education session among CSWs, conduct monthly review  meeting among  in school peer leaders and school  focal persons,  organizing monthly  review meeting   with  sex worker peer leaders  & TWG , Community wide event ,  sex workers referral linkage to health services,  quarterly review meeting   with  TF members , support for girls under the hostel, and monitoring progresses were among the activities  

 

Performed Activities  

1. 3,762 students have participated in the peer education program in the 25 school. 

2. 300 sex workers have benefited from the peer education program.

3. 16 adolescent girls have benefited from the holistic support.

4. The youth center has been renewed.

5. The literature competition among students have got over 25,000 audiences.
