EPIDEMIA Project Workshop

July 25-29, 2016

The EPIDEMIA project held a workshop in Brookings, South Dakota from July 25-29, 2016. Project scientists from South Dakota State University were in attendance along with public health partners from HDAMA, the Amhara Regional Health Bureau, Bahir Dar University, and GAMBY College of Medical Science. The workshop included presentations from the project partners on their recent activities along with analysis and discussion of the forecasting results from the 2016 early peak malaria season. A prototype of a new, web-based application for presenting the malaria forecasting using dynamic charts and maps was also presented to the attendees, who had the opportunity to test the application and provide feedback.

Major project outputs included a short-term plan for EPIDEMIA development over the next two years, along with a long-term vision for transferring computer technology and scientific knowledge to the Ethiopian partners to support malaria forecasting in the future.
